Action Plan for Goal 1
WCSD's administration and all members
of the teaching staff shall work as a team to continue making
measurable improvements in ALL district student outcomes,
the Regents tests, the percentage of students receiving high
school diplomas, and other State required examinations and/or
measures.
September-November
- After reviewing WCSD's performance data for 1999-00 tests
in light of the WCSD Performance Standards established by the
Board, the Academic Standards Advisory Committee will consult
with WCSD staff on the development of a "Program Improvement
Plan", identifying the student support programs that will
be needed for all students to meet New York and local academic
standards.
- The Academic Standards Advisory Committee will develop performance
targets for "Mastery level" on each of the Regents
tests
January
- The Curriculum and Academic Standards Advisory Committee
will present their recommended "2001-02 Program Improvement
Plan" to the Board and Budget Advisory Committee.
February
- The staff will present 1999-00 budget recommendations that
incorporate those made by the Curriculum and Academic Standards
Committee. This will be done as part of the presentation of the
Program section of the 2000-01 budget proposal.

Deliverables:
- In November, 2000, the Board will publicly receive a report
from the Academic Standards Advisory Committee outlining the
grade level assessments the committee recommends to measure student
progress toward WCSD's Academic Standards and the State's academic
standards
- In December, 2000, the Board will publicly receive a report
from the Academic Standards Advisory Committee recommending mastery
achievement targets for each Regents test
- In January, 2001, the Academic Standards Advisory Committee
will present its recommended Program Improvement Plan that identifies
the programs or services students will need to meet local and
State standards
- The staff's 1999-00 budget request will include the funds
needed to implement the recommendations of WCSD's Curriculum
and Academic Standards Advisory Committee
- The Board's budget will incorporate appropriate academic
program improvements in its 2000-01 budget.
