GOAL 1 - ACHIEVING HIGH ACADEMIC STANDARDS

The WCSD administration and all members of teaching staff shall work as a team and demonstrate sustained academic improvements at all grade levels, with the objective of achieving at least a 25% improvement in state assessments for this year (with the ultimate goal of having 100% of our students achieve in categories 3 and 4), regents and AP exams, mastery level, reduction of the dropout rate, and increase in the number of graduating students. The WCSD administration shall devise and implement a continuous improvement plan, modeled after best practices of exemplary school districts that have merited national and/or state quality awards for educational excellence, similar to the Pearl River School District using the Malcolm Baldridge award criteria as the template for WCSD.

GOAL 2 - COST CONTROL

The WCSD administration shall exercise prudent budget practices and fiscal restraints at all management levels. If and when required, proposed budget increases shall not exceed the regional CPI increase.

GOAL 3 - FACILITY NEEDS

The WCSD administration shall develop a comprehensive plan that addresses the present and future housing needs for the district's children, including such options as eliminating 6th grade centers, proposing a long term redistricting plan, recommending suitable sites for transportation and administrative facilities and presenting a suitable plan for an alternative school and a possible middle school.

GOAL 4 - ACCOUNTABILITY

Provide utmost accountability to all stakeholders. The performance appraisal of key administrative and managerial staff, whose compensation includes a merit provision, shall hinge upon the district's ability to achieve the foregoing district goals.
