Dear Community Member:

The District's Master Plan Steering Committee held its second meeting on December 3rd in the John Jay library. The meeting was attended by 80 individuals.

The district's consultant led discussions on the following topics:

1. Analyses of historic and projected student enrollments
2. Potential impact of new construction
3. A review of some of the activities conducted and findings of the consultant since the last committee meeting
4. Proposed resolutions for consideration by the Board of Education regarding such topics as class and building sizes, grade level alignment and full-day kindergarten

The committee agreed upon the formation of four sub-committees to facilitate the Board of Education's charge. These committees include:

1. Full-day Kindergarten program review
2. Inter-Agency Cooperation (identifying resources among governmental & community agencies)
3. Visionary (the configuration of a school of the future)
4. Communications

There will be a special Board of Education meeting held on Monday, January 5th at the Wappingers Junior High School at 8:00 p.m. The sole purpose of that meeting will be to have members of the Master Plan Steering Committee and the Board of Education engage in dialogue relative to those proposed resolutions referenced above.

The next regularly scheduled committee meetings are currently slated for January 14th at Roy C. Ketcham and February 11th and March 10th at locations to be determined.
