A community volunteer group is offering free math tutoring and homework assistance to students in Grades 9 – 12 on an appointment basis.  This program is operating differently than in previous years.  Students may not just "show-up" at the tutoring sessions.  Rather, they must send an email to the program coordinator, Mr. Chan Prasad, by Monday for the Wednesday session.  He will then coordinate having a volunteer available to provide the assistance.

To sign up for tutoring, send an email to cprasadusa@yahoo.com and indicate your name, grade level, and math course.

The sessions are from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesdays at Van Wyck JHS.  Please consult the calendar of dates at the end of this letter for the session meeting dates.  All Wappingers students in grades 9 – 12 are welcome to attend, but sign-up via email is REQUIRED.

Students attending these sessions are expected to bring their homework and have their textbooks.  Students must also bring a signed permission slip to the first session they attend. (Click here for a copy of this form).

Only students participating in the math help program will be permitted into the sessions.  Students "waiting for their friends" must wait outside the school building.  Parents need to provide or arrange for their student’s transportation to and from each session.  If parents choose, they can wait or arrange with their child to return at a fixed time.
