- A Trip To The Principal's Office
-
- Many of our students at Kinry Road Elementary School are
new to our school each year. You may wonder under what circumstances
do students visit the principal's office and why.
-
- As principal, I tend to be highly visible. I greet the students
in the morning and send them off in the afternoon. During the
day, I visit their classrooms. It is my opinion that it is important
for the principal to know the students and the students to know
their principal. You will often see me chatting with the students
in a varity of settings.
-
- On the other hand, students tend to visit the principal's
office for many different reasons. They may need to report an
incident, make an inquiry, use the phone, or bring notes. There
are also the times when they may be involved in an incident.
During these times, I seek clarification and/or involvement with
the incident. Sometimes students visit to give input into an
incident. It is my intention to seek input and discuss the situation
with each student prior to making a decision and I appreciate
it when the students are forthright and explain what happened
orr what they would have done differently.
-
- My purpose with these dialogues is for the students to learn
from their mistakes. Do we all make mistakes at one time or another?
Yes, and sometimes there are consequences to those actions. However,
I try to make these situations a learning forum for your child.
If your child is involved in an incident, I will phone you and
apprise you of the situation. You can assist me in having your
emergency card current and please make changes with phone numbers
as they occur during the school year.
-
- During my time at Kinry Road Elementary School, I look forward
to working closely with you.
