2025-2026 District-Wide School Safety Committee 

The WCSD District Safety Committee shall meet at a minimum of once annually; up to three meetings.  

The public is welcome to attend these meetings.

October 16, 2025

• Discussed required changes to our August 2025 approved DW Safety Plan.  NYS requires that by January 20, 2026 our district wide plan includes protocol information regarding cardiac arrest (related to NYS Desha's Law).   
  • In short we will need to ensure that all before and after school activities are covered with a person who is AED and CPR trained / certified.  
  • We will also need to ensure that all community based organizations that use our school are also provided with AED information by the District each time they want to use our school facilities.  
  • Lastly, we will also be required to provide contact information to an on-call employee who is knowledgeable about our AED devices to our community based organizations who use our school as a backup should they need assistance with locating or using the device.
• Mr. Lolkema also shared that we now have a SRO at Myers Corners and Gayhead Elementary Schools.
• Mr. Lolkema asked the group if they would like to move forward with LPR cameras at each of our schools, using leftover SSBA money.
