BOE Public Hearing on Safety Plan: August 17

Public Hearing on the District Safety Plan:

The New York State Education Department (NYSED) requires all public school districts, charter schools, and BOCES to develop, publicize, and submit comprehensive District-Wide School Safety Plans and confidential Building-Level Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) annually. 

Public Review & Timeline Requirements

  • 30-Day Public Comment: Draft District-Wide School Safety Plans must be shared publicly for at least 30 days before adoption.
  • Public Hearing: Districts must host at least one public hearing during this comment period to collect feedback from staff, students, and community members. 
  • September 1 Deadline: School boards must formally adopt the final version of the plan by this date each year. 
  • October 1 Submission: Finalized district plans must be published on the school's website, and the URL submitted to NYSED within 30 days of adoption (no later than October 1).

THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE WAPPINGERS CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT IS HEREBY NOTIFYING THE PUBLIC OF A PUBLIC HEARING TO BE HELD ON MONDAY, AUGUST 17, 2026 AT ABOUT 7:30 P.M. ROY C. KETCHAM HS, 99 MYERS CORNERS RD, WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY.  THE PUBLIC HEARING WILL ALSO BE LIVE STREAMED AT:

A recording will also be uploaded to the video library for viewing at a later date.

The purpose of this Public Hearing is to seek input/feedback on the 2026-2027 District-wide School Safety Plan. 

Information about the District-wide School Safety Plan may be obtained by visiting  WCSD website. The public may continue to provide comments/feedback via email to: email to submit comments, prior to the anticipated adoption by the Board of Education on August 31, 2026. The Public Hearing will be immediately followed by the Board of Education Meeting.
