Securly: Parental Controls on School-Issued Devices
Your student’s school device is now protected by Securly, a new content filter we use to help keep them safe when they go online.
Securly offers an at home component, the Securly Home App. This tool allows parents to see their child’s online activity on the device, and set additional controls when the device comes home.
With the app, you can:
- View an Activity Feed
- See your child’s recent internet searches, websites visits, and video views.
- Set Custom Rules:
- Create filtering rules for specific websites or content categories (e.g., block social media or gaming).
- Your rules won’t apply to the device during school hours; the rules set by the Wappingers CSD will be enforced during the school day.
- Schedule Offline Time:
- Set designated times when the internet will be disabled (such as during dinner or at bedtime).
- You can’t turn off internet access during school hours, only before and after the school day.
- Pause the Internet:
- Temporarily turn off internet access to your child’s device with one tap.
- Receive Weekly Reports:
- Get an overview of your child’s online activity via email.
- Get Alerts for Flagged Activity:
- Be notified of concerning online behavior flagged by Securly AI, including content related to bullying, self-harm, or violence.
